Reading Print vs. Reading Off of the Monitor

I found a an article The Death of the Newspaper. This article mentions that print is dying in the age of the internet.

Here is an article Paper vs. On-screen that notes three big reasons why reading off of paper will stick around. This article mentions that reading off of a monitor is slower, it causes more fatigue, and the text is understood less accurately versus reading off of paper.

Reading short articles such as news will threaten newspapers, but there will always be people that want to read more than a short article off of the newspaper. This shows that news paper’s will always be around. Well, at least until they make a more ergonomic monitor to read off of.

I was browsing the web and I found a great tool that makes it very simple to gather feedback from your users. This could save hours building a form with PHP/HTML to get simple feedback. The information is stored in Google Docs and the form can be embedded on the web or in e-mail.

Here is where I found the initial use of the form and it is a great example:

Random Thoughts is a website where user’s can post their thoughts. Thoughts can then be viewed in a random fashion. This website is very interesting and has lot of discussions on it. User’s are not required to log in so they can post and comment anonymously.

There is a great tutorial on trackbacking that I found on this blog. This tutorial is very clear and straightforward. This post tests the trackback feature. You can feel free to test the trackback on this post. Basically, it is just a matter of adding the trackback URL into the trackback field when your creating a post. You can get the trackback URL by right clicking and copying and pasting the URL from the link that says “trackback this post”.
